William John of Belturbet, Co Cavan

1914 Aug 21 enlisted as Private in D Coy 7th RDF

1915 Jun 5 promoted Lance Corporal

1915 Jul 10 arrives in Gallipoli

1915 Sep 14 Commissioned to 1st RDF. Later invalided home and transferred to 10th RDF

1916 involved in surrender of Mendicity. Mount had been junior clerk to Heuston at Kingsbridge Station. Heuston's brother said that Heuston surrender tpo Mount, but Mount later denied this. Heuston actually wrote to the Adjutant at Arbour Hill asking him to think Lt Mount for his kindness at the time of the surrender of the Mendicity garrison,

1916 Oct 14 Captured on a Lewis Gun patrol at Redan Crater

1918 Sep 7 internted in Holland

1918 Dec 18 repatriated

Mount Lt W.J. proceeded to Dollymount for Lewis Gun course. Later went to France with 10th RDF, reported missing on LG patrol at Redan Crater. Previously reported missing, is a prisoner in German hands. Captured 14 Oct 1916, interned in Holland 7 Sep 1918 and repatriated 18 Dec 1918
