21873 Sgt Percival Allison who served with the Regiment throughout the Great War 1914-1918. a native of County Durham, he voulnteered early in the war to join the Durham Light Infantry but due to an administrative error he was enlisted into the Dublins. I know that he served in the Middle East area of operations , in the Dardenelles and quite possibly at Gallipoli and that later he was in Egypt and I have a photo of him, in sergeant's uniform astride a camel with a number of other non - commissioned officers in front of the Sphynx, with the pyramids in the background He spoke very little of his experiences but I do recall him mentioning fighting the Turks and he mentioned Mesipotamia and the Holy Land. I Also heard him speak of Alexandria and of Jerusalem.
